Sega Genesis Games Online – 1,863 Mega Drive Classics
Sega’s 16-bit console – Genesis in North America, Mega Drive everywhere else – built its reputation on speed and attitude: Sonic the Hedgehog, Streets of Rage, Golden Axe, Gunstar Heroes, Shinobi and a run of arcade ports that the SNES could not match. Past Play has 1,863 Genesis games playable in the browser, from the launch-era arcade conversions to late titles like Comix Zone and Ristar that pushed the hardware hard.
The Genesis shipped with a three-button pad and later a six-button one; both layouts are mapped to the keyboard and to any connected gamepad, so Street Fighter II: Special Champion Edition and Mortal Kombat play with the full button set. Save states work in every game. If you grew up with the Mega Drive name you will find the same titles here under their US box art – the ROM is the same cartridge.
