Technocop is a dystopian action game released for the Sega Genesis in 1990. Taking on the role of a heavily armed enforcer, your mission is to hunt down criminal bosses across a crumbling city. The game alternates between two distinct modes: high-speed driving stages where you blast rogue vehicles off the road, and gritty side-scrolling action levels where you infiltrate buildings to capture or eliminate your target. It is notable for its challenging difficulty and for being one of the earliest Genesis titles to feature graphic violence.
How to Play
You must reach the criminal’s hideout and deal with them before your time expires. By default, use the Arrow keys (D-pad) to steer your car or move on foot, and Enter for Start. The action buttons (A/S/D or Z/X/C) control your acceleration and weapons during driving, while on foot they allow you to jump, fire your main gun, and deploy your snare.
Tips
- Whenever possible, use your snare gun to capture the bosses alive instead of killing them. Capturing them yields a much higher reward and score.
- During the driving sequences, prioritize avoiding crashes over destroying enemy cars, as collisions will severely drain your strict time limit.
- Conserve your health by learning enemy spawn points in the side-scrolling sectionsโhealing items are rare.
