WonderSwan Games Online โ 182 Bandai Handheld Games
The WonderSwan (1999) was Bandai’s Japan-only handheld, designed by Gunpei Yokoi’s team after he left Nintendo. It never launched in the West, which is why its library is a well-kept secret: the WonderSwan Color remakes of Final Fantasy I, II and IV, Gunpey, Mr. Driller, Klonoa: Moonlight Museum, Rockman & Forte, a run of Digimon and Gundam titles, and Square’s Front Mission and Romancing SaGa. Past Play hosts 182 WonderSwan games in the browser.
The WonderSwan could be held horizontally or vertically and had two sets of directional buttons for that reason; the emulator rotates the screen automatically for vertical games, and both button sets are mapped to the keyboard (arrows and I/J/K/L). Most of the catalogue is in Japanese โ the puzzle games and the Final Fantasy remakes are the easiest entry points for English speakers. Save states are available on every game.
