Sega SG-1000 Games Online – 57 Sega's First Console
The SG-1000 (1983) was Sega’s first home console, released in Japan on the same day as the Famicom. It ran on the same hardware family as the ColecoVision and MSX, and its library – around seventy games – is where several Sega staff started: Girl’s Garden was Yuji Naka’s first game, Champion Boxing was Yu Suzuki’s. Congo Bongo, Flicky, Star Jacker, Zaxxon, Monaco GP and Sindbad Mystery round out the arcade conversions. Past Play hosts 57 SG-1000 games in the browser.
The SG-1000 joystick had two buttons, mapped to Z and X with the arrow keys for direction. Every game here is a Japanese release, but almost none needs any Japanese – these are pure early-80s arcade-style games. They load instantly; save states are available but the games were built for a single sitting. If you want to see where the Master System came from, this is the shelf.
