Choplifter is a 1982 action shooter for the Sega SG-1000 where you pilot a combat helicopter behind enemy lines to rescue prisoners of war. Rather than just destroying everything in sight, you must balance fending off enemy forces with carefully landing to extract hostages and safely transporting them back to your home base.
How to play
Your objective is to locate the POW barracks, blast them open, and land safely so the hostages can board your helicopter. Once loaded, you must fly them back to your base's helipad to secure their rescue. Avoid enemy jets, tanks, and anti-aircraft fire along the way.
- Movement: Arrow keys
- Start / Reset: Enter
- Fire (Button A): Z
- Change Direction (Button B): X
Tips
- Clear the landing zone: Destroy any enemy tanks near the barracks before setting down, as your helicopter is extremely vulnerable while waiting for hostages to board.
- Watch your landing: Coming in too fast or at an angle can crush the very hostages you are trying to save. Take a moment to level out before touching down.
- Manage your capacity: Your helicopter can only carry a limited number of passengers at once. Do not linger too long if you are full; immediately head back to base to drop them off.
