Bomberman is a maze-action game developed and published by Hudson Soft in 1985 for the Sega SG-1000. Players navigate a top-down grid, placing bombs to blast through destructible walls, eliminate enemies, and uncover the hidden stage exit.
How to Play
Move with the arrow keys. Press Z (button A) to place a bomb — it detonates after a short fuse and clears a cross-shaped area, destroying soft walls and any enemy caught in the blast. Your own explosion is equally lethal, so always step clear before it goes off. Destroy every enemy in the stage and the exit opens; reach it to advance.
Power-ups are hidden behind destructible walls: Fire extends your blast radius, Bomb raises the number you can have active at once, and Speed increases your movement rate. Collecting them early makes later stages much more forgiving.
Tips
- Never place a bomb in a tight corridor with no nearby corner — the blast will reach you before you can escape.
- Use soft walls as shields: plant a bomb and duck around a corner so the wall absorbs the blast while the enemy takes the hit.
- Prioritise the Fire power-up early; a longer blast radius lets you clear enemies and walls without working in dangerously close quarters.
