Developed by Imagineering and scheduled for a 1995 release on the Sega CD, Penn & Teller’s Smoke and Mirrors is an infamous unreleased party game designed entirely around pranking your friends. The legendary magician duo created a compilation of joke minigames to trick onlookers, rather than traditional experiences. The collection is most famous for Desert Bus, a notoriously excruciating driving simulator where players must steer a bus from Tucson to Las Vegas in real time over eight unbroken hours to earn a single point.
How to Play
Each minigame has its own setup designed to fool an audience. Navigate the menus and interact using standard Sega Genesis controls: the D-pad for movement, A/B/C for actions, and Start (mapped to arrow keys + Z/X/C + Enter in your browser). If you tackle Desert Bus, you only need to accelerate and correct your steering, as the bus intentionally veers to the right.
Tips
- In Desert Bus, if you drive off the road, your bus will be towed all the way back to the start in real time, so you must remain focused.
- For minigames like Mofo the Psychic Gorilla, read the instructions carefully to learn the secret button combinations needed to input friends’ cards without them noticing.
