Released by SEGA in 1993 for the Sega Genesis, Streets of Rage 2 is widely regarded as one of the definitive side-scrolling beat ’em ups of the 16-bit era. Set one year after the defeat of Mr. X, players control vigilantes Axel Stone, Blaze Fielding, heavy hitter Max Thunder, or roller-blading Skate Hunter as they fight through crime-ridden city streets, amusement parks, and secret Syndicate hideouts to rescue their friend Adam Hunter.
How to Play
Battle through eight distinct stages of Syndicate goons, bosses, and environmental hazards. Each character features a unique combat style, weapon mastery, and signature moves. Use the directional controls to move in eight directions, combine normal attacks into multi-hit combos, or grab enemies up close to perform devastating throws and suplexes.
Browser Controls
- Movement (D-Pad): Arrow Keys
- Standard Attack (B): X key
- Jump (C): Z key
- Special Attack (A): S key
- Start: Enter
- Mode: Shift
Gameplay Tips
- Master Blitz Attacks: Double-tap forward and press the attack button to execute a character’s Blitz Attack (such as Axel’s Grand Upper). It provides quick forward mobility and strong damage without consuming your health.
- Use Special Attacks Wisely: Pressing the Special Attack button clears immediate surroundings with invincibility frames. Neutral specials cost a small slice of health on contact, so save them for escaping tight pinches or boss combos.
- Positioning and Grapples: Avoid getting sandwiched between enemies on both sides. Grab enemies directly to throw them into oncoming crowds, or press Jump while grappling (with Blaze or Skate) to vault behind them for a rear suplex.
