FIFA Soccer 95 is the second game in EA Sports’ FIFA series, released on the Sega Genesis in 1994. It introduced licensed club teams from Europe’s top professional leagues for the first time in the series, replacing the generic national squads of its predecessor. Alongside exhibition and cup modes, it added a full league season — a fixture calendar, standings table, and the possibility of promotion or relegation at the end of the campaign.
How to play
The arrow keys move your controlled player; on defense the game switches to whoever is nearest the ball. The Genesis face buttons map to the keyboard as follows: Z shoots, X passes or crosses, and S tackles or challenges for the ball. Press Enter to kick off and to advance through menus.
Tips
- Get central and close before shooting — balls played into the penalty box from a central position convert far more often than long shots from the flanks.
- Use short passes to draw defenders out of shape, then switch the play quickly with a longer diagonal ball to an unmarked winger.
- Corners and free kicks near goal are genuine scoring chances: move a runner to the near post before crossing and the goalkeeper rarely reacts in time.
