Game description:

Tinhead is a 1994 platformer for the Sega Genesis developed by MicroProse. In an era full of mascot characters, Tinhead stood out with its maze-like level design and unique combat mechanics. As the titular robotic sentry, your goal in each stage is to locate a hidden golden star to activate the teleporter and chase down the villain Grim Squidge. Your primary attack involves firing ball-bearings that can ricochet off walls and platforms, letting you hit enemies around corners.

How to Play

Navigate the sprawling levels, grab power-ups to increase your firepower, and find the golden star to exit. In the browser, the standard Sega Genesis controls apply: use the arrow keys to move, X (A) to change your firing angle, Z (B) to shoot, and C (C) to jump. Press Enter (Start) to pause.

Tips

  • Look ahead: You can pause the game and use the directional keys to pan the camera around. This is invaluable for spotting hidden paths or upcoming hazards.
  • Use geometry to your advantage: Your ball-bearings bounce off walls. Experiment with firing angles to safely destroy enemies without stepping into their line of sight.
  • Protect your power-ups: Upgrading your weapon allows you to fire multiple projectiles at once, but taking damage will downgrade your firepower.
