Tecmo Super NBA Basketball (Japan) is a classic sports simulation released by Tecmo in 1994 for the Sega Genesis. Serving as the sequel to Tecmo NBA Basketball, it brings fast-paced, arcade-style hoops featuring real NBA teams and rosters from the era. Players can choose their favorite franchise, play through a full season, and experience Tecmo’s signature cinematic cutscenes during spectacular plays and dunks.
How to Play
Your objective is to outscore the opposing team before time expires by executing offensive plays and playing tough defense. For the Sega Genesis, the default browser controls are the Arrow Keys for movement, Z to pass or switch defenders, X to shoot or block/steal, and Enter to pause or start the game. On offense, you must press and hold the shoot button, releasing it exactly at the peak of your player’s jump to make the basket.
Tips
- Master the timing: Releasing the ball at the exact apex of your jump significantly increases your shooting percentage. Each player has a slightly different animation, so practice their timing.
- Utilize playcalling: Don’t just rely on fast breaks. Call plays to set up screens and isolate your best scorers for open three-pointers or easy lanes to the hoop.
- Defensive positioning: Stay between your man and the basket. Steals can be risky and lead to fouls, so focus on contesting shots and securing rebounds.
