Developed by Hookstone and released in 1995 for the Sega Genesis, Zoop is a fast-paced action-puzzle game that challenges your reflexes and spatial awareness. Instead of the traditional falling blocks found in many puzzlers of the era, you face an ever-encroaching invasion of colored shapes closing in from all four sides of the screen.
How to Play
You control the central triangle, attempting to eliminate colored shapes before they breach your perimeter. When you shoot a shape of the same color, it vanishes. However, if you shoot a shape of a different color, you swap colors with itโthis swapping mechanic is the key to managing the board. To play, use the Arrow Keys to point your triangle, and press Z, X, or C (corresponding to the Genesis A, B, and C buttons) to shoot. Press Enter to start.
Tips
- Look for chains: If you shoot a matching color and there are identical colors directly behind it, the entire line will be destroyed in a single hit.
- Strategic swapping: Since swapping is mandatory to clear different colors, plan ahead. Grab a color from one side so you can quickly pivot and clear a dangerous stack on another side.
- Prioritize proximity: Always focus on the shapes closest to your central zone. If a single shape enters your box, the game is over.
