Zoop is a fast-paced, real-time puzzle game released for the Game Boy in 1997. You control a shape in the center of the screen, while a continuous stream of enemy shapes advance from all four sides. Your goal is to clear the board by shooting your central piece at approaching enemies. If your shape matches the enemy’s shape, it is destroyed. If they differ, you swap shapes, requiring quick reflexes and strategic planning to prevent the grid from filling up.
How to Play
Use the D-pad (Arrow keys) to aim your piece in any of the four directions. Press the A or B button (Z or X keys) to shoot your piece at the approaching shapes. To survive, you must match your current shape with the incoming shapes to clear them. If any enemy reaches the center square, the game is over.
Tips
- Plan your swaps: Sometimes it’s better to shoot a different shape just to acquire it for a chain of incoming shapes of that same type.
- Use power-ups: Look out for special flashing pieces that can clear entire rows or wipe out a group of shapes at once.
- Prioritize proximity: Always target the enemies that are closest to the center first to avoid a sudden game over.
