Game description:

Zico Soccer is a unique soccer management simulation released exclusively in Japan for the Super Famicom in 1994 by Electronic Arts Victor. Endorsed by the legendary Brazilian player Zico, the game breaks away from traditional arcade-style soccer. Instead of taking direct, real-time control of your athletes, you act as the manager on the sidelines, issuing tactical commands to your team using a cursor-based interface.

How to Play

Your objective is to guide your team to victory in exhibition matches or tournament cups. Because the game was originally designed with the Super Famicom Mouse in mind, you do not steer players directly. Instead, you move a cursor across the screen to select players and dictate their actionsโ€”such as where to run, when to pass, and when to take a shot at the goal. On a standard setup, use the D-pad (Arrow keys) to move the cursor, and the A/B buttons (Z/X keys) to select players and confirm your tactical decisions.

Tips

  • Since moving the cursor with a standard D-pad can feel a bit sluggish, try to anticipate where the ball is going rather than just reacting to the current play.
  • Keep an eye on the split-screen tactical view to monitor your team’s overall formation and spot open spaces for your players to exploit.
