Developed by Konami in 1991, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time is a definitive arcade-style beat ’em up for the SNES. You control one of the four turtles as they fight their way through hordes of Foot Clan soldiers across different eras in history, attempting to recover the stolen Statue of Liberty from Shredder.
How to play
The objective is to clear each side-scrolling stage of enemies and defeat the boss at the end of the era. Use the arrow keys to move. The SNES face buttons are mapped to your keyboard: use A and S (for X and Y) or Z and X (for A and B) to jump and attack. Shift acts as Select, and Enter starts the game.
Tips
- To execute the famous screen-throw attack, strike a Foot soldier until they bend over stunned, then walk into them and press attack.
- Dash attacks (double-tap left or right, then attack) are excellent for closing distance and knocking down groups, but they leave you briefly vulnerable if you miss.
- Save your special attack (pressing attack and jump simultaneously) for emergencies, as it drains a small amount of your health when it connects.
