Thrown through a time warp by Shredder, the Heroes in a Half-Shell must battle their way back to the present in this 1992 SNES masterpiece by Konami. Widely considered one of the greatest beat ’em ups of its era, Turtles in Time features fast-paced arcade action, smooth mode-7 effects, and an iconic soundtrack. You can choose from Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, or Michelangelo, each with distinct weapon ranges and attack speeds, to fight through eras ranging from the prehistoric past to a neon-lit future.
How to Play
Your goal is to clear each screen of the Foot Clan and defeat the era’s boss to jump to the next time period. The default browser controls for the SNES map the D-pad to the arrow keys, with the face buttons (A, B, X, Y) generally mapped to Z, X, A, and S. Use the attack and jump buttons to perform your basic combos, or double-tap left or right to run. You can also unleash a special attack by pressing attack and jump simultaneously. Press Enter for Start and Shift for Select.
Tips
- Screen Throws: Flinging enemies directly at the screen is essential for defeating the boss in the Neon Night-Riders stage. To execute the throw, strike a Foot Soldier once or twice to stun them (they will bend over), then walk directly into them while attacking.
- Use Dash Attacks: The dash attack (double-tap a direction, then attack) is excellent for closing distance and knocking down groups of enemies quickly, keeping you from getting surrounded.
- Special Attack Invincibility: Your special attack gives you brief invincibility frames. Use it as a panic button when surrounded to break out of a crowd, but manage it carefully since it costs life.
