Timecop is a side-scrolling action platformer based on the Jean-Claude Van Damme film of the same name, released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). Featuring digitised graphics similar to popular fighting games of the era, players take on the role of TEC agent Max Walker. Your mission is to travel through different eras in time to stop criminals from altering history.
How to Play
The objective is to fight your way through various historical eras, defeating thugs and avoiding environmental hazards to track down rogue time travellers. In the browser emulator, the default SNES controls are mapped to your keyboard: use the Arrow Keys for the D-pad to move and duck, Z for the B button (jump), X for the A button, A for the Y button (attack/punch/kick), and S for the X button. Press Enter to Start and Shift for Select.
Tips
- Master the sweep kick: Ducking and attacking is an effective way to deal with enemies safely, as it keeps your hitbox low while knocking them down.
- Save your ammunition: Guns and weapons have limited ammo, so rely on your hand-to-hand combat skills for standard enemies and save your firepower for tougher sections and bosses.
- Take your time: The game’s digitised animation can make jumping and attacking feel slightly delayed, so avoid rushing into groups of enemies and plan your moves carefully.
