The Death and Return of Superman is a side-scrolling beat-’em-up developed by Blizzard Entertainment for the SNES in 1994, based on DC Comics’ storyline of the same name. The game spans the full arc: Superman fights through his enemies until his fatal clash with Doomsday, after which players take control of each of the four replacement Supermen â Steel, the Eradicator, Superboy, and Cyborg Superman â before the original’s return closes the story. Every character has a distinct move set, so each chapter plays differently.
How to Play
Clear enemies from each screen to advance through the stage. Each Superman has a basic punch combo, a jump attack, and a special move; take a moment at the start of each new chapter to feel out the fresh move set before pushing into crowds. Boss encounters close every stage â stay mobile and avoid the corners.

Tips
- The Eradicator’s energy attacks are ranged â hold your distance from bosses and fire rather than brawling up close where you will absorb unnecessary hits.
- Jump-attacks beat most standing approaches; launch into enemies before they can cluster around you.
- Steel’s hammer has good horizontal reach â use it in tight corridors to sweep groups without getting surrounded.
