Game description:

Super Tennis is a classic sports game released for the SNES in 1991 by Tokyo Shoseki. As one of the console’s standout early titles, it makes striking use of the hardware’s Mode 7 scaling to provide a fluid, quasi-3D perspective of the court. The game features singles and doubles matches, diverse player rosters with unique stats, and a full circuit mode, offering a surprising amount of depth and precision for a 16-bit tennis simulator.

How to Play

Compete in exhibition matches or tackle the professional circuit to become the top-ranked player. The game relies heavily on timing, positioning, and selecting the right shot (topspin on B, lob on A, slice on Y, and hard shot on X).

Tips

  • Your swing timing dictates the ball’s direction. Swinging early pulls the ball cross-court, while swinging late pushes it down the line.
  • To hit an unreturnable serve, strike the ball at the exact apex of your toss just as it flashes.
  • When rushing the net, use the slice shot (SNES Y / S key) to keep the ball low and force your opponent into a weak return before you volley.
