Contra III: The Alien Wars Restoration is an improvement hack for the classic SNES run-and-gun shooter, originally developed by Konami. Created by ROM hacker SCD, this patch modifies the North American release to restore features that were exclusive to the Japanese version, Contra Spirits.
How to Play
Battle through alien hordes and massive bosses using a variety of heavy weapons. This restoration patch re-enables unlimited continues, restores the original cheat codes, and allows you to fight the true final boss on Normal difficultyโa feature previously restricted to Hard mode. Standard browser controls apply: use the Arrow keys to move and aim, Z, X, A, and S for jumping and shooting, Enter for Start, and Shift for Select.
Tips
- You can hold two weapons at once. Switch between them to keep a powerful weapon (like Crush Missiles or the Laser) in reserve for boss fights, so you don’t lose it if you die.
- Don’t forget to use your screen-clearing bombs (usually mapped to A or X) when you are completely surrounded.
- Since this patch restores the Japanese version’s cheat codes, you can input them at the title screen to gain extra lives or unlock the stage select menu.
