Game description:

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is an action platformer released for DOS in 1989 by Konami. Based on the classic NES release, players control Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo, and Donatello as they battle through New York City to rescue April O’Neil and stop Shredder.

How to play

The game alternates between an overhead view for navigating the city and side-scrolling action stages. You can switch between the four turtles at any time. Each turtle has a separate health bar and their own signature weapon, requiring careful team management to survive. The game is controlled using standard keyboard inputs mapped for DOS emulation.

Tips

  • Donatello’s bo staff has the longest reach and deals heavy damage. Keep him healthy and save him for difficult encounters and boss fights.
  • Since each turtle has independent health, quickly swap out a character when they are near death. You can heal them later by collecting pizza slices.
  • In the notorious underwater dam stage, take your time swimming to avoid the instantly damaging electric seaweed while defusing the bombs.
