Digger Remastered is a 1998 DOS action maze game created by Andrew Jenner as an enhanced, modernised version of the 1983 Windmill Software classic. Piloting a mining machine, players dig through dirt to collect emeralds while avoiding pursuing enemies. The remaster perfectly preserves the original’s frantic arcade pacing while adding new features like simultaneous two-player support and a Gauntlet mode.
How to play
The objective of each stage is to collect all the emeralds or defeat every enemy. Use the arrow keys to steer Digger through the dirt and press F1 to fire a slow-recharging fireball at pursuers. You can also dig beneath bags of gold to loosen them, dropping them onto enemies below to crush them and collect the scattered gold coins.
Tips
Since fireballs take time to recharge, dropping gold bags is often your safest offensive tactic when cornered. The slower Nobbins will blindly follow your excavated paths, but be careful when they transform into Hobbinsโthey are faster and can dig their own tunnels. Additionally, collecting a bonus cherry makes you temporarily invincible, allowing you to eat enemies for extra points.
