Released in 1996 by Buena Vista Games, Disney’s Pocahontas for the Sega Genesis is a peaceful, puzzle-driven action-platformer that stands out for its cooperative gameplay. Instead of fighting enemies, you switch seamlessly between Pocahontas and her raccoon companion, Meeko, to solve environmental puzzles. As you progress, helping animals grants Pocahontas new spirit abilities—like the otter’s swimming or the deer’s running—while Meeko’s smaller size lets him squeeze into tight spaces and manipulate objects to clear the path forward.
How to play
Your goal is to guide both characters safely to the end of each stage by using their unique abilities in tandem to overcome obstacles and avoid hunters. You can swap between Pocahontas and Meeko at any time to position them where they are needed.
- Movement: Arrow keys
- Jump: Z
- Action / Interact: X
- Switch Character: S
- Start / Pause: Enter
Tips
- Meeko can fall from any height without taking damage, making him useful for scouting the areas below.
- If you’re stuck, look for an animal in distress; rescuing them will grant Pocahontas a new spirit power required to progress.
- Make sure both characters reach the exit point of the screen to move on to the next area.
