Released by Nintendo in 1994, Super Punch-Out!! is a beloved SNES boxing game that blends sports action with puzzle-like pattern recognition. Playing as a young challenger, you fight your way through the Minor, Major, World, and Special Circuits against a colorful roster of increasingly difficult opponents. Rather than standard boxing simulation, the game relies on lightning-fast reflexes and memorizing your opponent’s unique attack patterns to find the perfect opening.
How to Play
The objective is to defeat all boxers in each circuit by knocking them out or winning by TKO within a three-minute time limit. Watch your opponent carefully for visual or audio tells before they attack, allowing you to dodge, block, or duck. Landing punches builds up your power meter; once it flashes, you can unleash devastating knockout blows.

Tips
- Watch for tells: Every opponent has a specific visual or audio cue before they throw a punch, such as pulling an arm back, flashing their eyes, or making a distinct sound.
- Counter-punch for max damage: You deal significantly more damage if you strike an opponent right as they are vulnerable, either immediately after they miss an attack or right as they are winding up.
- Don’t get exhausted: Taking hits or having your punches blocked depletes your stamina bar. If it empties, you will become exhausted and unable to attack until you recover by dodging successfully.
