Game description:

Super Power League 4 is a professional baseball game developed and published by Hudson Soft for the Super Famicom in 1996. As the final 16-bit entry in the long-running Power League series, it features officially licensed rosters from the 1996 Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) season. The game offers detailed player sprites, realistic stadium layouts, and a variety of modes including exhibition matches, full pennant races, and home run derbies to provide a complete Japanese baseball simulation.

How to Play

The objective is to outscore the opposing team over nine innings of standard baseball. When batting, use the D-pad to position your batter in the box and press A to swing. When pitching, use the D-pad to select your pitch location and press A to throw; you can bend the ball mid-flight by holding left or right. In the field, use the D-pad to run toward the ball and press A along with a direction to throw to a specific base.

Browser Controls: Use the arrow keys for the D-pad, Z and X for the A and B buttons, Enter for Start, and Shift for Select.

Tips

  • Pay attention to your pitcher’s stamina. Leaving a tired pitcher on the mound drastically reduces their pitch velocity and makes them much easier to hit.
  • Mastering the mid-flight curve when pitching is essential for striking out AI batters, as throwing straight over the plate will frequently be punished.
  • Prioritize contact swings over power swings when you have runners in scoring position to ensure the ball is put in play.
