In Lemmings, a classic puzzle-strategy game developed by DMA Design Limited in 1991 for the SNES, you must guide a horde of mindless, green-haired critters safely through treacherous environments. Left to their own devices, the lemmings will march endlessly forward into hazards, so it is up to you to assign specific jobsโlike digging, building, or blockingโto secure a route to the exit.
How to Play
Your objective is to save a required percentage of lemmings on each stage before time runs out. Use the arrow keys (D-pad) to move the cursor. Press Z (action button A) or X (action button B) to interact and assign skills. Shift maps to SELECT, and Enter maps to START. A and S map to X/Y, while Q and E map to the L/R shoulder buttons.
Tips
- Contain the crowd: Use a Blocker early near the entrance to trap the marching lemmings in a safe area, allowing a single worker to build the path forward.
- The pause trick: The SNES version allows you to pause the action and scroll around the level to plan your route without losing precious time.
- Nuke with care: If you get stuck or have saved enough lemmings to pass the level, use the “Nuke” option to blow up the remaining lemmings and end the stage early. Don’t forget to free your Blockers!
