Released exclusively in Japan for the NES in 1991 by Mighty Craft, Akagawa Jirou no Yuurei Ressha is a classic mystery adventure based on the work of famous author Jirou Akagawa. You take on the role of a detective working alongside a university student to unravel a series of strange murders connected to a rumored ghost train. The experience plays as a traditional visual novel, relying on command menus to investigate scenes, gather clues, and interrogate witnesses.
How to play
As a text-heavy mystery, your objective is to navigate the command menus to find the right clues to progress the story. Note that this original release is entirely in Japanese. The browser controls map to a standard NES controller: use the arrow keys to move through the menus, Z and X (acting as the A and B buttons) to confirm or cancel your choices, and Enter or Shift for Start and Select.
