Game description:

Based on Episode IV: A New Hope, this 1991 NES action-platformer by Beam Software puts you in the role of Luke Skywalker as he sets out from Tatooine to take on the Galactic Empire. You'll run and gun through side-scrolling levels, explore caves to find R2-D2, take the controls of the Millennium Falcon in first-person asteroid sequences, and ultimately pilot an X-Wing in the trench run against the Death Star.

How to Play

Your objective is to survive the platforming stages, rescue key characters like Han Solo and Princess Leia to have them join your party, and destroy the Death Star. The default browser controls map the NES D-pad to the arrow keys for movement. Use the Z and X keys for the A and B buttons to jump and shoot, and Enter or Shift for Start and Select.

Tips

  • In the Tatooine caves, take your time and use Luke's blaster carefully to deal with spikes and enemies; rushing will quickly drain your limited health.
  • When you rescue Han and Leia, you can swap between them in the menuโ€”each character has their own life meter, which is crucial for surviving longer levels.
  • During the Millennium Falcon flight segments, focus on dodging the larger asteroids rather than trying to shoot everything, as keeping your shields up is the priority.
