Game description:

The third and final entry in the Wizards & Warriors trilogy, Kuros – Visions of Power was developed by Rare and released for the NES in 1992. It departs from the series’ straightforward action formula by giving Kuros three disguises — Fighter, Thief, and Wizard — each with distinct abilities and access to areas the other two cannot reach. Collecting coins in each disguise class lets you upgrade that identity’s skills, so progress depends as much on careful switching and exploration as on combat.

How to play

Arrow keys move Kuros. Z is the B button (attack), X is the A button (jump), Enter starts or pauses, and Shift opens the Select menu. Recognising which disguise each area demands — and having it developed enough to handle what follows — is the heart of the game.

Tips

  • Spread your coin spending across all three disguises rather than maxing one out. You cannot finish the game without all three being reasonably developed.
  • If a passage or door seems completely blocked, the answer is almost always to switch disguises rather than to hunt for a hidden route.
