Dr. Mario is Nintendo’s 1990 NES puzzle game, designed by Gunpei Yokoi. Dr. Mario tosses two-color vitamin capsules into a bottle filled with red, blue, and yellow viruses. Line up four or more of the same color in a row or column — capsule halves and viruses count together — and they disappear. Clear every virus in the bottle to advance. Before each game you choose a virus level (0–20) and a fall speed (Low, Med, Hi), so difficulty scales to your experience.
How to play
Use the arrow keys to move the falling capsule left or right, and down to drop it faster. Press X to rotate clockwise, Z to rotate counter-clockwise. Press Enter to start or pause the game.
Tips
- Work bottom-up — viruses near the base of the bottle are hardest to reach once pieces stack above them, so target the lowest rows first.
- Think in vertical stacks — a column of four same-color pieces is often easier to build than a horizontal row when matching viruses sit at different heights.
- Watch for dangling halves — when a match clears one side of a capsule, the other half falls freely and can trigger a chain. Plan the next drop to take advantage of it.
