Released for the NES in 1986, Sqoon is a side-scrolling aquatic shooter where you pilot a submarine to save humanity from melting continents. Developed by Home Data and published by Irem, the game tasks you with navigating underwater depths, fighting off alien sea creatures, and rescuing floating survivors. The challenge lies in balancing your offensive attacks while carefully managing your fuel gauge.

How to Play

The goal is to rescue survivors and progress through each ocean phase. Your submarine can carry up to nine survivors at a time; once you reach capacity, surface and deposit them at the mobile island base to refuel. Use the arrow keys to maneuver. Press X and Z (the NES A and B buttons) to fire horizontal missiles and drop bombs. Press Enter for Start and Shift for Select.

Tips

Keep a close eye on your fuel gauge. If it runs out, your submarine will sink. Replenish fuel by destroying enemies and collecting the tanks they drop, or by successfully delivering survivors to the base.
Clear the area of enemies before swooping down to rescue survivors. The ocean floor is littered with mines and stationary defenses that can easily catch you off guard.
