Contra Force is a 1992 NES action shooter published by Konami exclusively in North America. Originally a separate Konami project titled Arc Hound in Japan, it was retooled and released under the Contra name — a US-exclusive entry that never shipped in Japan or Europe. You choose one of four soldiers at the opening screen, each carrying a different primary weapon, then run and gun through horizontally scrolling urban and industrial stages.
How to play
Character selection matters: each of the four soldiers has a distinct weapon type, so choosing one that suits your style changes how the stage plays. Arrow keys move and aim; X fires (the A button) and Z is your secondary action (the B button). Enter is Start; Shift is Select. Like the rest of the Contra series, a single hit kills — take time to read each stage layout and enemy patterns before pushing hard.
