Zelda no Densetsu – The Hyrule Fantasy is the original Japanese release of the foundational action-adventure game developed by Nintendo in 1986. This seminal title introduced the top-down exploration, puzzle-solving, and real-time combat that defined a genre. Players guide Link across the vast land of Hyrule, delving into dangerous dungeons to collect the scattered fragments of the Triforce of Wisdom and defeat Ganon.
How to play
Your objective is to explore the overworld, locate the hidden dungeons, and defeat their bosses to assemble the Triforce. In the browser, use the arrow keys to move Link across the map. Press Z to swing your sword and X to use equipped secondary items like bombs, the boomerang, or the bow. Press Enter to open the sub-screen where you can select your secondary item.
Tips
- Burn and bomb everything: The overworld hides many secret caves behind seemingly normal bushes and rock walls. Use the Blue Candle to burn isolated bushes and place bombs against flat rock faces to reveal hidden shops, heart containers, and secret hideouts.
- Stock up on medicine: Before attempting a difficult dungeon, save up your rupees to purchase the red potion from an overworld shop, which gives you two full health refills.
- Listen for secret rooms: When navigating dungeons, listen carefully to the sound of your sword beam; if it makes a different noise when striking a wall, you can place a bomb there to blow open a secret passage.
