Splatterhouse Part 2 is a gruesome horror beat ’em up developed by Namco and released for the Sega Genesis in 1992. Returning as Rick, players once again don the cursed Terror Mask to battle through hordes of nightmarish monstrosities in a desperate bid to rescue his girlfriend, Jennifer. Known for its visceral combat, dark atmosphere, and punishing difficulty, it remains a standout action title for the console.
How to Play
Your objective is to survive side-scrolling stages by defeating grotesque enemies and powerful bosses using your fists, environmental weapons, and the mask’s powers. By default, the Sega Genesis controls are mapped to your keyboard: use the Arrow Keys to move, crouch, or jump, Z, X, and C for the action buttons (Attack and Jump), and Enter for Start. Grab weapons like lead pipes and chainsaws whenever you find them to deal extra damage and increase your reach.
Tips
- Master the Slide Kick: While jumping, press down and attack to perform a sliding dropkick. It is incredibly useful for dodging attacks and clearing out smaller enemies safely.
- Memorize Boss Patterns: Bosses in Splatterhouse Part 2 have specific attack cycles. Focus on learning their tells and prioritizing evasion over rushing in for hits.
- Keep Your Weapons: Dropping a weapon usually means losing it for good when the screen scrolls. Hold onto powerful items like the shotgun or chainsaw for as long as possible.
