Centipede brings the timeless arcade shooter to the Game Boy Color. Released in 1998, this faithful port challenges you to defend your garden from a relentless, winding centipede as it descends through a dense field of mushrooms. As you blast segments of the centipede, they split and turn into new mushrooms, forcing you to constantly adapt your strategy while fending off erratic spiders, diving fleas, and poisonous scorpions.
How to Play
Your objective is to survive as long as possible and rack up a high score by eliminating the centipede before it reaches the bottom of the screen. In the browser, use the Arrow Keys to move your bug blaster and press Z or X to fire. You can move freely within the bottom area of the screen to dodge enemies and position your shots.
Tips
- Clear the bottom mushrooms: Fleas will drop down and leave new mushrooms if the bottom area is too empty, but keeping your immediate movement zone relatively free of obstacles gives you more room to dodge.
- Hunt the spiders: Spiders move erratically through your zone but award high points if destroyed at close range.
- Watch for poison: Scorpions will poison mushrooms they touch. If a centipede hits a poisoned mushroom, it will instantly dive straight to the bottom of the screen.
