Game description:

Pop’n TwinBee is a vibrant top-down “cute ’em up” developed by Konami and released for the SNES in 1993. As the sixth installment in the TwinBee series, it trades the traditional one-hit deaths of arcade shooters for a more forgiving health bar system. Players control the charming, bell-shaped ships TwinBee and WinBee, blasting through pastel-colored stages filled with quirky enemies and massive, whimsical bosses.

How to Play

Your objective is to reach the end of each scrolling stage and defeat the boss to save the world from the evil Dr. Mardock. The game features standard SNES controls: use the D-pad (Arrow keys) to move your ship. Press the primary action button (Z) to fire your main weapon at airborne enemies, and the secondary action button (X) to drop bombs on ground targets. You can also use your mechanical arms to punch enemies at close range.

Tips for Success

  • Juggle the Bells: Shooting the floating bells changes their color. Different colors grant different power-ups, such as defensive shields, speed boosts, or trailing options (ghost ships that double your firepower).
  • Don’t Over-Shoot: If you shoot a bell too many times, it will turn into a bee enemy or shatter. Keep track of the colors to get the specific upgrade you need.
  • Co-op Synergy: In two-player mode, you can share health with your partner or even pick them up and throw them across the screen for a devastating, screen-clearing attack.
