Game description:

Released by Nintendo in 1985 as a launch title for the NES in North America, Pinball brings the classic arcade experience to the home console. The game features a split-screen table where you control the flippers to keep the ball in play, rack up a high score, and avoid letting the ball drain. It includes a distinctive bonus stage starring Mario, who must carry a girder to catch the ball and rescue Pauline, echoing his earlier arcade adventures.

How to Play

Your objective is to score as many points as possible by hitting targets, bumpers, and lanes without losing your ball. Use the D-pad (mapped to the Arrow keys) to control the left flipper, and the A or B buttons (mapped to Z or X) to control the right flipper. Press Down to pull the plunger and launch the ball. Choose between Game A for beginners or the faster Game B for experts.

Tips

  • Shoot for the capture hole in the upper right-hand corner of the table; sinking your ball here is required to enter the Mario and Pauline bonus stage.
  • To keep the ball in control, practice trapping it by holding the flipper up as it rolls down the inlane, letting you aim your next shot carefully rather than frantically flipping.
  • Hit the playing cards on the top screen to change their suits; lighting up a royal flush raises the block post between the bottom flippers, saving you from a center drain.
