Game description:

Moai Kun is a clever puzzle-platformer released by Konami in 1990 for the Famicom (NES), presented here with a full English translation. You control a Moai statue navigating 56 single-screen stages to rescue your smaller friends, the Pucchis. Combining action mechanics with strict puzzle logic, every move counts as you manipulate blocks, dodge enemies, and reach the exit door before time runs out.

How to Play

The goal of each stage is to rescue every trapped Pucchi and exit through the door. Use the Arrow Keys (D-pad) to move, Z (A) to jump, and X (B) to headbutt enemies or push loose blocks. Pressing Down + X (Down + B) drops a bomb to destroy the floor immediately beneath you, provided you have collected one. If you make a mistake that renders the puzzle impossible, press Shift (Select) to sacrifice a life and restart the stage.

Tips

  • Think before you push: If you push a rock against a wall or into a corner, you cannot pull it back. Analyze the room’s layout before moving any blocks.
  • Mind your height: Falling from too great a distance will leave you temporarily stunned. Time your drops carefully to avoid being paralyzed near patrolling enemies.
  • Screen wrap: Walking off the left or right edge of the screen will often make you reappear on the opposite side, which is required to solve many later puzzles.
