Developed by Wisdom Tree in 1991, Bible Adventures is an unlicensed educational platformer for the NES that adapts three Old Testament stories into distinct playable modes: Noah’s Ark, Baby Moses, and David and Goliath. The gameplay heavily borrows mechanics from Super Mario Bros. 2, specifically the core ability to pick up objects, characters, and enemies, carry them stacked over your head, and throw them to navigate levels or solve puzzles.
How to Play
Each of the three modes has a unique objective: gather male and female pairs of animals for the ark, carry Baby Moses past guards without dropping him in the Nile, or herd sheep before fighting Goliath. Use the Arrow Keys to move, jump with X (the A button), and use Z (the B button) to pick up or throw items and characters. Enter acts as Start to choose your mode or pause.
Tips
- Stacking is key: In Noah’s Ark, you can carry multiple animals stacked on your head to save time, but taking damage will cause you to drop them all.
- Protect Moses: You can strategically throw Baby Moses over enemies or gaps to a safer spot, but dropping him in the water instantly fails the level.
- Mind the weight limit: Heavier animals like cows restrict your movement and jumping height, making precision platforming much harder while carrying them.
