Game description:

Released in 1991 by Wisdom Tree, Bible Adventures is a well-known unlicensed platformer for the NES. Rather than a single continuous journey, the game features three separate modes based on Old Testament stories: Noah’s Ark, Baby Moses, and David and Goliath. Bypassing Nintendo’s official seal of quality, the cartridge became famous for its unusual premise and its gameplay, which heavily borrows the lifting and throwing mechanics from Super Mario Bros. 2.

How to Play

Your objective depends on which of the three stories you select. In Noah’s Ark, you must track down animals and carry them back to the ark. Baby Moses tasks you with carrying an infant safely across a hazardous landscape, and David and Goliath involves herding sheep before a final boss battle. Using the default NES controls in your browser, use the arrow keys to move, press Z (A button) to jump, and press X (B button) to pick up, stack, or throw objects, animals, and characters. Press Enter (Start) to begin.

Tips

  • In Noah’s Ark, you can stack multiple animals on top of each other and carry the entire stack at once to save time.
  • During the Baby Moses level, be very careful with the throw button near hazards, as it is entirely possible to throw the baby away.
  • When fighting Goliath, maintain your distance and time your projectile throws carefully to avoid his attacks.
