Zany Golf is a creative miniature golf game developed by Will Harvey and released for the Sega Genesis in 1990. Viewed from an isometric perspective, the game challenges players to putt their way through nine increasingly bizarre fantasy holes. What starts as a simple game of mini-golf quickly introduces bouncing hamburgers, magic carpets, pinball bumpers, and fans, making each course a unique puzzle.
How to Play
Your objective is to complete each hole before running out of strokes. You begin the game with a set number of strokes, and any unused strokes carry over to the next hole. If your stroke counter reaches zero, the game is over.
Controls:
- Arrow Keys (D-pad): Move the crosshair to aim and set your shot power. The further the crosshair is from the ball, the harder you will hit it.
- Z, X, or C (A/B/C Buttons): Putt the ball.
- Enter (Start): Pause or start the game.
Tips
- Conserve your strokes: Since extra strokes carry over, performing well on the easier early holes gives you a vital buffer for the much harder later courses.
- Study the moving parts: Many obstacles run on a fixed timer. Take a moment to watch the pattern of windmills and moving barriers before you commit to a shot.
- Look for shortcuts: Some holes feature hidden or difficult-to-reach paths that can bypass complex sections. Risking a shot to hit a specific ramp or switch can save you strokes overall.
