WWF Royal Rumble is a classic professional wrestling game released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) in 1993. Developed by Sculptured Software, it brings a fast-paced, arcade-style approach to the squared circle. The game features a roster of iconic 90s wrestling superstars, complete with their signature finishing moves, and introduces the chaotic six-man on-screen Royal Rumble match to home consoles.
How to Play
The objective is to drain your opponent’s stamina and pin them, or throw them over the top rope in the titular Royal Rumble match. The default Super Nintendo controls are mapped to your keyboard:
- Move: Arrow keys
- Punch / Kick (Y): A key
- Grapple (B): Z key
- Run (X): S key
- Action / Tag (A): X key
- Start: Enter
To execute a grapple move, lock up by moving into your opponent, then mash the buttons to win the meter battle before pressing an attack button.
Tips
- Winning grapples: When locked up, rapidly mash the attack buttons. The tug-of-war meter above the wrestlers indicates who has the upper hand.
- Using weapons: You can exit the ring to fight on the floor and grab the steel chair to hit your opponent, but keep an eye on the referee’s 20-count so you don’t get counted out.
- Finishing moves: Each wrestler has a unique finishing maneuver. To use it, you must wear down your opponent’s health until their meter is low, win a grapple, and press the designated finisher button.
