Game description:

Virtual Pinball is a pinball simulation and creation game developed by Bill Budge and published by Electronic Arts for the Sega Genesis in 1993. Acting as a spiritual successor to the classic Pinball Construction Set, it allows players to not only enjoy several built-in themes but also design, test, and play their very own custom pinball machines from scratch.

How to Play

In addition to standard pinball gameplay across the pre-made tables, the primary draw is the comprehensive editor. You can place bumpers, flippers, drop targets, and slingshots onto a blank playfield, and tweak underlying physics like ball speed and gravity. For default Sega Genesis controls in the browser, use the arrow keys for the D-pad (to navigate menus and the editor), and Z, X, and C for the A, B, and C buttons to operate the flippers and launch the ball. Press Enter for Start.

Tips

  • When building your own table, test the ball trajectory frequently to ensure your targets and upper flippers are physically reachable.
  • Experiment with the gravity and elasticity settings in the editor; lower gravity creates a floaty, forgiving table, while high gravity requires faster reflexes.
  • Avoid overcrowding the lower third of the playfield. Give the ball enough room to travel toward the main flippers so you have time to aim your shots.
