In Towering Inferno, released by U.S. Games for the Atari 2600 in 1982, you take on the role of a firefighter battling a blaze in a skyscraper. Your objective is to navigate through a maze of obstacles and moving flames to rescue survivors trapped at the top of the screen and guide them back to your entry point for helicopter extraction before time runs out.
How to play
You must reach the top of each screen to rescue survivors and escort them back to safety. Keep an eye on the time meter, as the number of survivors decreases the longer you take. Watch your positioning closelyโyou can only spray water vertically, meaning you cannot attack flames from the sides.

Tips
- Since your hose only sprays vertically, approach flames from above or below. Approaching from the side will leave you defenseless.
- Speed is crucial. The longer you take to navigate the barriers and fire, the fewer survivors you will be able to rescue.
- Focus on clearing a direct, safe path to the survivors rather than trying to extinguish every flame on the screen.
