Spider-Man is a 1982 action game published by Parker Brothers for the Atari 2600. You play as the web-slinger scaling the exterior of a skyscraper to reach the Green Goblin at the top and defuse his bomb before his descending toxic cloud catches you.
How to Play
The core mechanic is vertical web-slinging: fire a web to pull yourself up the building face while gravity drags you back down. Masked criminals drop on threads as you climb — web them before they hit the street to earn bonus points. The Green Goblin releases a poisonous cloud from the top of each building that slowly descends; if it reaches you, you lose a life. Defuse the bomb at the top and the next, harder building begins.
Controls
Use the arrow keys to move Spider-Man across the building face. Press Spacebar to shoot a web (the trigger). F12 resets the game, F11 cycles the Select option, and Alt+P pauses.
Tips
- Keep moving up — the Green Goblin’s cloud is your main threat, and hesitating to chase every criminal will get you caught.
- You don’t have to web every criminal; concentrate on the ones that fall directly across your path for easy bonus points without breaking your climb.
