Alpha Beam with Ernie is a 1983 educational game for the Atari 2600, published by Atari, Inc. in collaboration with Children’s Television Workshop. Featuring Ernie from Sesame Street, it is aimed at preschool-age children learning to recognise and sort letters of the alphabet — one of several Sesame Street titles Atari produced for the platform that year.
How to play
Letters appear on screen for players to identify and sort correctly. Player 1 uses the arrow keys to move and Spacebar to fire; a second player can join using TGFH to move and A to fire. Press F11 (SELECT) before starting to choose a game variant — lower-numbered variants are gentler and better suited to younger children. Press F12 to reset and Alt+P to pause.
