Game description:

Developed by Imagic in 1982 for the Atari 2600, Trick Shot is a pocket billiards simulation that makes the most of the console’s technical limits. Instead of a full rack, the game focuses on strategic table setups featuring three target balls. You can compete in variations of Pool (first to 25 points) and English Billiards (first to 50 points), or tackle nine predetermined puzzles in the dedicated Trick Shot mode.

How to play

Aim your shot using the joystick to point the cursor in one of 16 angles. Power is controlled by holding the trigger buttonโ€”the longer you hold it, the harder the strike. You can also apply “English” (spin) to the cue ball to influence its trajectory after impact.

Tips

  • Practice your power control: It takes time to learn exactly how long to hold the trigger for delicate bank shots. Use the practice mode to get a feel for the power meter without the pressure of a live match.
  • Master the spin: Applying English to the cue ball is essential in the puzzle modes for navigating tight angles and ensuring the cue ball lands in a safe position.
