Game description:

Topple Zip (Japan) (Project EGG) is a 1987 Famicom Disk System release from Bothtec, a “race adventure” that blends racing with an arcade shooter. Piloting a craft called the Zipping, you race a field of computer-controlled rivals across eight looping stages linked by warp zones, using speed, collisions, and picked-up weapons to reach the goal first. The game began life in 1986 as a PC-8801 and MSX computer title before Bothtec ported it to the Famicom Disk System the following year; this version comes from Bothtec’s own Project EGG re-release of the game.

How to Play

Guide your Zipping craft along each stage’s warp-linked route and cross the finish line ahead of the rival aircraft, picking up the items you need along the way. The screen scrolls automatically while you steer left and right, and ramming into rivals can knock loose item capsules carrying power-ups such as multi-directional shots, homing missiles, smoke screens, and mines, useful both for slowing down opponents and clearing your own path. Your plane runs on a fuel gauge that also serves as its life bar; let it run dry and it’s game over.

Default controls: Arrow keys to steer, Z / X to fire and use items, Enter for Start, Shift for Select.
