Topple Zip is a unique hybrid of a multi-directional shooter and a racing game, developed by Bothtec and released for the Famicom Disk System (NES) in 1987. Instead of a traditional scrolling shooter, you navigate your spaceship through various warp points across eight distinct stages to locate a hidden key item required to reach the final level.
How to Play
Your objective is to explore the interconnected stages, battling or racing computer-controlled opponents, to find the key and unlock the eighth stage. Controls use the standard NES layout: move your ship with the arrow keys, use Z and X for your weapons and items, and press Enter to pause or start.
Tips
- Ram your opponents: Unlike most shooters where you avoid contact, colliding with enemy ships in Topple Zip dislodges their power-ups, allowing you to shoot and collect them.
- Use the Radar: The warp connections between stages are randomized every time you play. Rely on the Radar item to navigate the confusing map layout and keep your bearings.
