Yuu Maze (also known as Youmais) is a fast-paced maze action game released for the Famicom Disk System in 1988 by Daiei Seisakusho. A faithful adaptation of Taito’s arcade game Raimais, this home version puts you in control of a futuristic vehicle navigating intricate, grid-based levels. Much like classic dot-collecting games, the main objective is to clear the board while dodging enemies, but the game expands on the formula by introducing power-ups, varied enemy types, and a simultaneous two-player mode exclusive to this console release.
How to Play
To advance to the next stage, you must collect every dot scattered throughout the maze without being destroyed. Use the D-pad (mapped to the arrow keys) to steer your vehicle through the corridors. The A and B buttons (Z and X keys) activate your vehicle’s abilities and any usable items you collect, giving you an edge against pursuing enemies. Press Start (Enter) to pause the game.
Tips
Pay close attention to enemy movement patterns; they often follow specific routes, so predicting their path is essential to avoid getting cornered. Additionally, try to clear the edges of the maze first, leaving the safer, central dots for last when the game speeds up.
